Soldier and 15 others rescued from Boko Haram kidnapping – Channels Television

The Borno State Police Command said its officers rescued a kidnapped soldier alongside 15 other travelers along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road.

Force spokesman ASP Sani Kamilu said on Monday that the travelers were kidnapped by Boko Haram / Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) men in the West African Province (ISWAP). Borno State.

“Police on patrol around the Auno axis rescued a soldier attached to the 4th Marte Battalion and 15 other people kidnapped by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

“Motorists were coming from different places towards Maiduguri, but on reaching the village of Yanakiri / Kondori along the Damaturu-Maiduguri road, they were intercepted and taken into the bush,” Kamilu said.

According to the police spokesman, the elite team of officers together with the police rapid response squad to obtain the information gave a hunt for terrorists.

The security agents engaged the terrorists in an armed duel which successfully saved the victims.

Kamilu further revealed that the agents deployed superior shooting powers and techniques to defeat the outlaws.

The Maiduguri-Damaturu road, which is the only road connecting Borno to other parts of the country, has seen an upsurge in kidnappings over the past month, with many incidents going unreported.

In August, Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya banned soldiers fighting in the northeast from traveling on the road and launched a social flight program for soldiers in leave.

However, those traveling to nearby towns like Yobe, Bauchi and Plateau are usually escorted by an armed convoy, military sources have confirmed.
