Wearing sunscreen is the floss of skin care: you know you need to do it every day for your health, but it doesn’t always happen. Fortunately, with so many new sunscreens on the market, we don’t have to put a thick liquid with that unmistakable smell under our makeup every day. According to online reviews, no sunscreen is as popular as Supergoop! Invisible sunscreen, but I am often suspicious of “holy grail” items. Could it live up to the hype?
My husband has sensitive skin that doesn’t respond well to most sunscreens, so his mom suggested he try his invisible sunscreen on a recent trip to the beach. He was amazed at the lightness of her face and marveled that there was no residue on her hands. I had to try it for myself.
I was immediately intrigued by the color and texture when I put it on my hand. I didn’t see a blindingly white liquid that was too runny or too thick, but a clear formula that was soft to the touch, almost bouncy. The texture reminded me of a matte makeup primer, which makes sense; when i decided to order mine after borrowing my stepmom’s invisible sunscreen from the beach i found out that it was actually marketed as a base rather than just sunscreen! We love a multitasking beauty product.
As someone who often forgets to wear an SPF every day (don’t tell my dermis or my mom!), This formula is the first that makes me want to to include it in my daily routine. It might sound like madness, but when you think about the benefits of skin care, the top notch reef safe SPF, the priming abilities of makeup and the skin smoothing qualities of sunscreen invisible, it’s total theft.
