A lucky customer receives Mac Studio a few days early

Turns out not everyone has to wait until Friday to get a Mac Studio.

The Mac Studio is expected to start reaching customers on March 18. But a wealthy Frenchman had his Tuesday, three days earlier!

It looks like a store in France missed Apple’s note about not shipping later in the week.

Mac Studio arrived today!

Simon bragged on the French site Mac4Ever that he had already received the Mac Studio that he had pre-ordered. And he shared a photo of the packaging to prove it. The site, however, declined to name the retailer who made the mistake.

But everyone has to wait until March 18 for the new fast Mac desktop. Unless you dithered about the order, that is, in which case you won’t see delivery until April.

First shipments of Apple devices are rare but not unheard of. In 2011, some German customers received their iPhone 4S three days before they were supposed to, for example.

The Mac Studio is Apple’s first new line of desktop computers in many years. It incorporates the M1 Ultra, the fastest processor ever designed by Apple. Or it can be configured with an M1 Max instead.

The chassis is larger than a Mac mini but smaller than a Mac Pro. There’s room for a host of ports, including six Thunderbolt 4/USB-C, a pair of USB-A ports, HDMI, Ethernet and more.

Mac Studio pricing starts at $1,999 with the M1 Max chip. But get Apple to include the M1 Ultra and the cost jumps to at least $3,999.
