The Lagos Police Command has arrested four suspected members of the Eiye and Aiye sectarian groups for their alleged nefarious and criminal activities in the Badagry area of the state.
Command spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest in a statement released in Lagos on Saturday.
Hundeyin said the arrest of the suspects followed a series of complaints from some locals about their frequent violent activities and killings.
“The arrest of the suspects follows a week-long careful investigation into continuing complaints of cult-related unrest and killings in Badagry.
“They were arrested in various districts of Badagry during an operation which lasted several days.
“The preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects belong to the Eiye and Aiye brotherhoods.
“The suspects will be arrested following further investigation,” he said.
Hundeyin quoted State Police Commissioner, CP Abiodun Alabi, assuring the people of the state that the command will continue to fight the cult and related crimes to ensure lasting peace in the state. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
